High Peak Alpamayo 55 Backpack

High Peak Alpamayo 55

If someone didn’t tell you this was a $80 backpack, you’d guess the price at twice as much. Nothing about the High Peak Alpamayo 55 itself says cheap. Construction and material are of good quality; buckles are stout, the padding isn’t stingy. Thoughtful design is apparent throughout with an abundance of gear loops, exterior bungee, and pockets for everything from hydration pack to snacks and cars keys. It weighs in under four pounds and has 3,500 cubic inches of capacity. The main compartment will easily swallow rope and rack for a day at the crag or the essential accoutrements for your next camping trip. The brand name here doesn’t have any cachet, but if you’re looking for substance instead of fashion statement, it’s in the bag.

Downside: Though the back system is adjustable, it’ll be too small for tall women and many men. The High Peak company has no website or support infrastructure.

Cost: $80
